She had a "green thumb" and could grow anything. Her yard was always a favorite in Coalgate because of its beautiful flowers, shade trees and manicured lawn. In her early years, she was a talented musician and played the accordion and piano. For a time, she and her childhood friend Sylvia had their own musical radio program on KADA Ada.
