Jerome Whittington, age 82, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Thursday, June 10, 1937, to Lonnie Sumpter and Hester (Smith) Whittington, at South Fork, AR. Jerome passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Tulsa, OK. He attended school. Jerome was a service station owner. Jerome proudly served his country in The Air Force. He married Geraldine "Terry" Whittington on May 10, 1965 at Atoka, OK. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage before her passing in March of 2015. Jerome attended Pentecostal Church of God in Caney, OK. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking care of his animals.
Jerome is survived by his step son, Doyal Broughton and wife Lucille of Tushka, OK; grandsons, Ed Broughton and wife Tami of Tushka, OK, Michael Broughton and wife Tracy of Tushka, OK; granddaughter, Healther Milam and husband David of Bentley, OK; 10 great grandchildren, Lindsey Broughton, Cole Broughton, Ryan Broughton of Tushka, OK, Ethan Magby, Kade Magby of Tushka, OK, Shelby Milas, Jalynn Milam of Bentley, OK, Nathen Norris of Tushka, OK, Taylor Childers of Atoka, OK, Tyler Childers and wife Jessica of Atoka, OK; special niece, Rhonda Minton of Oden, AR; nephew, Ray James and wife Jackie of Talkeetna, AK; brother, Robert Whittington of Russellville, AR; sister in law, Ester Pearl Henderson of Atoka, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Sumpter and Hester (Smith) Whittington; wife, Terry Whittington; brother, Loyd Whittington; sister, Vonda Booth; granddaugher, Sherrie Lynn Broughton; nephew, Donnie James.
