Jerry "Cotton" Don Sears, age 77, a longtime Atoka, OK resident since 1969, was born on Sunday, March 12, 1944, to James "Jim" R. and Jewel Dean (Beach) Sears, at Ada, OK. Cotton was raised in Antlers, Ada and Atoka and lived in Stayton, OR for a while. Cotton passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Atoka, OK. He attended many schools in many states before graduating from Cascade High School in Aumsville, OR and went on to attend Okmulgee Technical School. Cotton worked many years farming, owned a service station in Oregon and Arizona. He owned Sears Tire Shop and Bait and Tackle, and also Sears Green House in Tushka and Atoka and was manager at 3-Rivers. Cotton proudly served his country in The Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he was military police. He married Lena Mae (Walling) on Tuesday, July 2nd, 1968 at Vancouver, WA. They celebrated 53 years of marriage. Cotton was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed antique cars, fishing, farming, loved to work at anything, running the green houses, bait shop and his tire shop and woodworking. Cotton was a member of VFW in Oregon.
Cotton is survived by his wife, Lena Mae Sears of the home in Atoka, OK; children, Sheila Pingleton and husband Billy of Tushka, OK, C.L. Sears and wife Johnnie of Tushka, OK; grandchildren, Bubba Pingleton of Caddo, OK, Denym Miller and husband Cliff of Atoka, OK, Shauna Sears of Atoka, OK, Shelly Barker of Manhattan, KS; great grandchildren; Nora Miller, Chase Pittman, Kane Pittman, Karah Barker, Karli Barker, Konner Hauser, Chloe Sutterfield; brothers in law, Ron Page of Atoka, OK, Donnie Walling and wife Lila of Aumsville, OR, Henry Walling and wife Vickie of Wisconsin; sisters in law, Joanna Sears of Wisconsin, Beverly Delgodo and husband Jess of Stayton, OR; aunt, Tine Beach of Hugo, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Cotton was preceded in death by his parents, James "Jim" R. and Jewel Dean (Beach) Sears; sisters, Dana Page, Jimmie Dean Showalter; brothers, James Boyd, Roger Wayne, Ron Sears, Mike Sears.
