Jesse "Delbert" Sheffield, age 82, a Lane, OK resident was born on Friday, July 9, 1937, to Jesse and Thelma Leota (New) Sheffield, at Lane, OK. He passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Lane, OK.

Jesse attended Lane schools for a couple of years before moving to California where he attended Rockport Elementary and graduated from Legget Valley High school.

He was a rancher. Jesse proudly served his country in the army where in his spare time he boxed.

He married Carolyn Beth (Patton) on Monday, December 31st, 1962 at Caney.

Jesse barely missed a weekend going to Joyce's bar. He enjoyed going on road trips, drinking beer, and listening to country music. He loved riding his horse and spending time with his friends and family. He was well respected and dearly loved in his community. He was very strong minded and had a quick wit about him. His grandchildren referred to him as "bad to the bone." He was a member of Lane Baptist Church where he was baptized. He had several friends from California relocate to Oklahoma with him to live close by. He was captain and quarterback for Legget Valley High School. He had the highest batting average in the whole northwest region of California. In his last years he enjoyed watching his great grandchildren run and play.

Jesse is survived by his life partner, Carolyn Roberts; daughters, Shana Sheffield,Staci Pettigrew and husband Gary, Crystal Lee and husband Frank; daughter in law, Clara Sheffield; sisters Elsie, Shirley, Delene, Jannette, JoAnne; granddaughters, Deidre Clark and husband Joe, Shayla Kennedy and husband Justin, Kathleen Badgett and husband Scott, Jessica Lane and husband Robbie, Falicity Gardner and husband Jacob, Staci Sheffield, Arrica Lee, Destiny Pettigrew, Marisa Pettigrew, Cari Shelton and husband Chris; grandsons, Kacey Chittum, Kaleb Stephens, Shane Sheffield, Trey Stephens, Indiana Lee, Rowdy Pettigrew; great grandsons, Austin, Xayden, Legion, Legend, Payton, Gabriel, Elijah, Keegan, Kaden, Axel, Peyton, Haylen, Griffin, Axel C.; great granddaughters, Keira, Mallie, Ryleigh, Jaylee, Taleska, Shakota, Kaylee, Cora, Mayzi, Kimberly, Leyton, Taelyn, Addilyn; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Thelma Leota (New) Sheffield; sisters, Joyce, Helen, Kolene; brother, Jerry Elbert; son, Del Shawn Sheffield; grandson, Zachary Pettigrew
