Jessie Willene Evans, age 92, a Stringtown, OK resident for 27 years, was born on Tuesday, November 19, 1929, to W.T. and Jessie Myrtle (Miller) Waggoner in the community of Star, OK. She passed away on April 8, 2022, in Stringtown at the age of 92 years.
Jessie (known as Willene) was raised on a farm in the Star community in Atoka County, Oklahoma. She graduated from Tushka High School. Willene married Kenneth Evans on March 26, 1949, in Sherman, Texas. They celebrated 73 years of marriage before her passing on April 8, 2022.
Willene was a housewife and homemaker. Her joy in life was family! Spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She loved everything outdoors - watching wildlife, boating, fishing, and hunting. In her younger years, Willene was quite the horsewoman. She loved to ride with her horse Skeeter. In fact, when the weather and roads were bad and the mailman couldn't drive into the Star community, she rode her horse to pick up the mail and delivered it to her neighbors. She enjoyed playing at casinos in Oklahoma, Vegas, Bossier City, Tahoe, cruises and other travels to Alaska and Hawaii.
Willene is survived by her husband Kenneth Evans of Stringtown, OK; sister Wanda Calvert and her husband Robert of Atoka, OK; son Michael Evans and wife Becky of Atoka, OK, and daughter Sandra Pratt and husband Tommy Leisy of Moore, OK; grandchildren Christopher Evans and wife Marva, Timothy Evans and wife Sandi, Tiffany English and husband John, Heath Pratt and wife Kayley; great-grandchildren Makenzi English, Maci English, Chase Evans, Bryce Evans, Blake Evans, Taylor Evans, and Quinn Pratt.
Willene is preceded in death by her parents W.T. Waggoner and Jessie Myrtle Waggoner; brothers Leo Waggoner and Glenn Waggoner; sisters Bonnie White, Jewel Reynolds, Wilda Martin, Elva Marie Waggoner, and Melba Deanie Waggoner; son Ronald Evans and his wife Brenda; and granddaughter Sherri Dawn Evans.
