Jessie Willard Harrison, age 98, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident, was born on Thursday, November 18, 1920, to Matt Nelson and Gertrude (Manning) Harrison, at Atoka, OK. Jessie passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at his home in Atoka, OK. He attended Dunbar School in Atoka, OK. Jessie was a Ordinance Worker and worked for 28 years and 2 months at the Navy and Army Ammunition Depot where he retired in 1982. Jessie proudly served his country in The Army during WW II at Guadal Canal. They built runways for bombers. He married Elree Burton in Sherman, TX, she preceded him in death on July 21, 1991. Jessie was a longtime member of the Fourth Ward Church of Christ where he served as treasurer, was a former member of American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and building things, including his house.
Jessie is survived by his children, Herman Campbell of Dallas, TX, Ruth Jackson of LA, CA, Willard Harrison and wife Pauline of Durant, OK, Myrtle Tetteh of Oklahoma City, OK, Althear Finley and husband Simon of Atoka, OK, Jerry Harrison and wife Karon of Warner Robins, GA, Chester Harrison of Stockton, CA, Beth Ann Harrison of Atoka, OK, numerous grandchildren and great and great great grandchildren; sister, Cecil Davis of Atoka, OK; brother, Joe Harrison and wife Pat of Atoka, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Jessie is preceded in death by his parents, Matt Nelson and Gertrude (Manning) Harrison; wife, Elree Harrison; son, John Willis Davis; daughter, Jessie Mae White; brothers, George, Willie Austin, Tommy, Leroy, Paul, Benjamin and Jack Earl Harrison; sisters, Adreine Oliver, Darlene Holt, Elizabeth Freeman, Mavis Harrison, Irene Harrison; and some loved grand and great grandchildren.
