Jimmy Adams, age 67, an Atoka, OK resident, was raised in Oak Cliff, TX and Vanita, OK and moved to Lane in the 1990's. He was born on Thursday, December 27, 1956, to James and Geneva Lee (Bradford) Adams, at Oak Cliff, TX. Jimmy passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at McAlester, OK. He attended Oak Cliff High School in Texas and furthered his education at the University of Texas graduating with an associate's degree.
Jimmy worked for Piggly Wiggly Grocery Warehouse in Dallas, TX and then was a correctional officer and worked his way to Assistant Warden and Training Officer in McAlester Prison. He married Roberta Bumpers in 2000. Jimmy was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and going on vacations. Jimmy spent 2010-2011 in Afghanistan subcontracting for the US Army for Operation Enduring Freedom.
Jimmy is survived by his children, Nicole Adams of Dallas, TX, Addison "Butch" Adams of Lane, OK; mother of Addison, Roberta Bumpers and husband Keith of McAlester, OK; 3 GRANDCHILDREN; aunts, Helen McGraw of Lane, OK, Wanda Brown of Dallas, TX; uncle, Cotton Bradford of Lane, OK; along with numerous cousins, other relatives, and many dear and loved friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Adams Bryan; father, James Adams; brother, Johnny Adams; maternal grandparents, Adam and Maggie Bradford.
