OBITUARY NAME: Rev. JoAnn (Sweet) Walston, age 78, a longtime Atoka, OK resident. BORN: She was born on Friday, April 23, 1937, to Edward Louis and Mildred (Philpot) Sweet, at Ada, OK. PASSED AWAY: Rev. JoAnn entered the gates of Heaven rejoicing with no fear and with victory on Tuesday October 13, 2015 at Denison, TX. AGE: 78 years, 3 months and 21 days. EDUCATION: She graduated Ada High School and attended and graduated Cosmetology at Kiamichi Vo-Tech at the age of 63. OCCUPATION: Rev. JoAnn was a Minister. Her and Bill were owners of Walston's Tire and Alignment Center for many years. She worked at Ethan Allen and at the Chamber of Commerce for Atoka. MARRIED: She married Billy Joe Walston on May 21, 1955 at Lindsey, OK. They made their home and started a family in Ada, OK. In 1970 their family relocated to Atoka. The couple walked hand and hand with an enduring love for over 60 years. CHURCH AFFILIATION, HOBBIES AND OTHER AFFILIATIONS: She loved spending time with her family, especially her sister Sharon Sweet of Durant, OK. She was a talented artist, piano player, and singer. Most of all she loved preaching the Gospel and winning souls to the Lord.
