J.R. Baker, age 85, a Canyon Lake, TX resident, formerly of Houston, TX. He was born on Friday, January 21, 1938, to Luther Solomon and Effie Dixie (Burleson) Baker, in Daisy, OK. John passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023 in Houston, TX. He graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, TX with the class of 1956. John was a special delivery serviceman for the USPS before his retirement in 1999. He served for 42 years. John proudly served his country in The National Guard. He married Angelica (Garza) on July 17, 1959 in Houston, TX. They celebrated over 63 1/2 years together before his passing. J.R. grew up in the Baptist church but practiced the Catholic faith. He loved gardening, collecting guns and coins, loved cars old or new, and was a magnet for any animal in need.
J.R. is survived by his wife, Angelica Baker of the home in Canyon Lake, TX; daughter, Suzanne Baker of Houston, TX; son, David Baker of Houston, TX; besst buddy, His beloved companion "Puppydog"; niece and nephews, Cathy Boles and Tommy Nixon of Kenefic, OK, Kenneth Addington and Brenda Robertson of Kenefic, OK, Danny Addington and wife Linda of Clayton, OK; along with cousins, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
J.R. was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Solomon and Effie Dixie (Burleson) Baker; brother, Jarvis Dean Baker; sister and brother in law, Edith Addington and Charles Addington.
