He then moved to California where he worked many years as a union pipefitter. J.D. moved back to Farris in 1966 and ranched until he had to retire because of failing health in 2008. BORN: He was born on Wednesday, October 11, 1922, to Sam J. and Katie B. (Brocket) Wood, at Mannsville, OK. PASSED AWAY: J.D. passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Atoka, OK. AGE: 92 years, 7 months and 5 days. EDUCATION: He attended county schools around Farris area. OCCUPATION: J.D. was a pipefitter for the Local 205 til his retirement. MARRIED: He married Maxine Gaines on September 27, 1941 in Sand Springs, OK. She preceded him in death in 1995. CHURCH AFFILIATION, HOBBIES AND OTHER AFFILIATIONS: J.D. was a member of Farris Baptist Church. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge #475, Scottish Rite (32nd), Akdar Temple Shrine, Order of Eastern Star, and Order of Amaranth, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem. J.D. loved his cattle and working of the ranch and on vehicles and equipment.
