John Thomas Richard, age 78, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Wednesday, November 27, 1940, to Paul and Cleo (Brown) Richard, at Yates Center, KS. John passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Denison, TX. He graduated from Odessa High School and then went on to receive an Associate's Degree in Business at Odessa College. John was a Business Manager for McLeod Correctional Center. He also served on Atoka City Council from 1986 to 1998, and on Atoka Housing Authority. He married Carolyn Ann (Stewart) on Saturday, November 19th, 1977 at Oklahoma City, OK. They shared 41 wonderful years and 5 months together. John was a member of First Baptist Church of Atoka. He enjoyed leather work, photography, picture restoration, loved his computer, and he was a multi platform gamer.

John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ann Richard of the home in Atoka, OK; daughters, Sabra Mathis and husband Ray of Colleyville, TX, Michelle Smith and husband David of Garland, TX; grandchildren, Shalon Griggs of Arlington, TX, Shea Mathis of Colleyville, TX, Bailey Mathis of Tulsa, OK, Joshua Mace and fiancé Adit Wongsaroj of Sanger, TX, Cody Mace and wife Carina of St. George, UT, Logan Mace of The Colony, TX, Kamon Smith of Lewisville, TX, Jessie Duque and husband Ariel of Kaufman, TX, Kira Smith of Terrell, TX; great granddaughter, Kalleigh Smith of Terrell, TX; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Cleo (Brown) Richard; sister, Joan Richard.
