Johnnie Lee Powell, a life-long Coalgate resident, was born on March 26, 1943, to Noel Elmer and Eva Bell (Karr) Powell, at his homeplace in Coalgate, OK. He passed away on January 9, 2024 at Coalgate at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 14 days. John attended school at Centrahoma and graduated from Coalgate High School. John later attended Delmar College. He served as a Texas State Trooper and worked for the Corpus Christi Police Department. He retired as manager of Ethan Allen Distribution Center in Atoka, OK. He continued to be a rancher throughout his retirement years. He served in the U.S. Army. John married Becky Eileen Scott on January 13, 1968, at Corpus Christi, Texas. They celebrated 49 years together before her passing on February 15, 2017. He was a faithful member of the Coalgate Methodist Church. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge #211. He and Becky began the church food bank many years ago. John's continued support and volunteering at the food bank has been a true blessing to many. He enjoyed the outdoors and ranching. John could be found each morning drinking coffee with his friends at the gas station. He cherished his family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Michelle Lampkin and husband Jimmy of Coalgate, OK
7 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren

God Child: Courtney Hickman Atterberry
Along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of dearly loved friends
