Johnnie "John" Robert Rowland, age 85, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Friday, January 24, 1936, to George Melton and S.E. (Boyd) Rowland, at Daisy, OK. John passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Colbert, OK. He attended Daisy and Pittsburg High School. John was a sales rep for a liquor distributor for about 30 years. He married Wilma Dean "Bobbie" (James) on May 24, 1956 at McAlester, OK. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on September 20, 2014. John was a christian. He enjoyed rodeoing, roping, and going to the horse races. He loved spending time with his horses and working around the barn. John also loved spending time with family, visiting with friends and telling jokes to anyone who would listen.
John is survived by his daughter, Paula Jean Rowland of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Jamey Holstine and partner Laci Moreland of Atoka, OK, Gerald Rowland and wife Sheila of Kiowa, OK, Ashley Cobb and husband Sam of Arkansas, Jalen Rowland and wife Claire of New York; brothers, A.C. Rowland of Lubbock, TX, Cotton Rowland of Ada, OK, Charlie Rowland of Pittsburg, OK, Randal Rowland of Daisy, OK; 10 great grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, George Melton and S.E. (Boyd) Rowland; wife, Bobbie Rowland; son, Gerald Rowland; siblings, Mary, Patsy, George.
