IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnny Edward
Bowman
November 9, 1942 – May 28, 2022
John Edward Bowman, age 79, peacefully departed this life on Saturday May 28, 2022. John or (Johnny), as he was affectionately known by many, had been living at Atoka Manor Skilled Nursing Facility in Atoka, OK. He had endured a stroke at his home in Wapanucka, OK in 2021 and could no longer take care of himself. John was born November 9, 1942 on the family farm west of Canadian, OK. Johnny was born to J. H. and Reba Faye (Dayberry) Bowman. He grew up living on the farm and learning to drive the hay truck at a very young age. Johnny attended Canadian Public Schools and graduated high school in 1960. Johnny was always a proud Canadian Cougar and kept the clock at the basketball games. Upon graduation, Johnny took a job as a long haul truck driver and drove more than a million miles without ever having an accident. When Johnny's dad passed in 1981, John came back to Wapanucka to live with and care for his mother. He then began driving the bus for Wapanucka Schools, a job he held for 28 years.
Johnny is survived by a sister, Patricia Bowman (Mutter) Farr and husband Pat of Richland Hills , Texas; nephews Bradley Howard Mutter and wife Debra Kay of Atlanta, GA, Michael Glenn Mutter; nieces, Patricia Victoria Mutter of Northlake, Texas and Chelise Rose Stout and husband Brandon of Hill Airforce Base Salt Lake City, Utah; and special Uncle Bob Bowman of Canadian, OK , and many long time friends of Wapanucka , OK
