Johnny Ray Rowton entered this world on June 4, 1973, to his loving parents, CR and Sharon Rowton. Johnny's birth was as curious and unexpected as his parting. He was born early in the back of a Ford Falcon Futura. He left this earth in the same fashion, too early and unexpected.
Johnny was a lover of life and a collector of friends. He was known far and wide in Southeastern Oklahoma as a fierce and loyal friend. He went out of his way his entire life to help those who needed him. From cutting wood for a blind elderly gentleman each winter who lived on his mail route, to helping out countless friends in need, with just that: whatever they happened to need at the time.
Johnny was always ready with a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen with, or a hard shake if you you'd lost your way.
He was a philosopher, a healer, a poet, a writer of short stories and a seeker of the truth. Johnny would rather sleep out under the stars at his favorite pond on his family's land, than any bed inside. He was at home under the stars. He would go looking for arrowheads after a good rain, then give them away.
Johnny loved both nature and the supernatural. He was an expert at identifying the indigenous plants of Oklahoma and using them for natural remedies for himself and his family.
He was a hard worker and helped take care of his family's farm. Johnny adored his nephews, Luke and Brody Rowton, and made it his priority to look after them and make sure they knew the important things a man needs to know, like how to fish and shoot a BB Gun, and to always ask questions.
He relished the holidays and one of his favorite times of the year was Thanksgiving when the family would gather and his brother-in-law, Shannon, would come to visit and they could disappear into the woods, hunting and fishing to their hearts' content.
Johnny was curious and loved to contemplate the cosmos and dream of outer space, aliens or obscure theories. No concept was too large for Johnny's brilliant mind and imagination.
Johnny's rapid departure has left a gaping hole in the hearts of his family and friends. He was the type of person who makes you feel better, just knowing that he's in the world.
He will be missed by his siblings, Lori, Chris and his little piglet, Emily and her precious husband, Kevin Richardson, who he played, worked and fought with fiercely, but loved them even more fiercely. His sweetheart, Beckie, his lovely match, who will miss all those nights under the stars, his deep love for her and their precious time together. His parents will miss his tender heart and his gruff demeanor.
His friends will miss his sharp wit and gentle hand. The world will miss his smile but inherit his spirit. As Johnny takes the next step of his journey, he will continue on to be with his Heavenly Father, who he believed in and served every day of his life, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
