Joni Lynn Shook, age 70, a longtime Atoka, OK resident. She was born on Tuesday, May 4, 1954, to Dwayne and Marguerite Lou Ellen (Kohnen) Eckert, at Minneapolis, MN. Joni passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at her home in Atoka, OK. She received her GED and then went on to receiver her Master's Degree from SOSU. Joni was a teacher and educator with the Atoka Public School system. She married Andrew Clayton Shook on Wednesday, August 3rd, 1983 at Brighton, CO. They celebrated over 34 years of marriage before his passing on April 5, 2018. Joni attended Stringtown First Baptist church and New Hope Church. She enjoyed sewing, teaching, arts and crafts, and loved her dogs and family.
Joni is survived by her sons, Joseph Shook and Megan Gaines of Lebanon, TN, Andrew Shook and wife Erin of Pueblo, CO; daughters, Amanda and Felicia; grandchildren, Logan Shook of Lebanon, TN, Lilith Shook of Pueblo, CO, Shelby Orrell of Monticello, AR; brother, Joe Eckert of San Francisco, CA; sister, Sherri Lundborg of Tucson, AZ; niece, Sophia Numley of Tucson, AZ; friends, Debbie and Ed George of Eufaula, OK; fur baby, Louie; along with other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Joni was preceded in death by her parents, Dwayne and Marguerite Lou Ellen (Kohnen) Eckert; husband, Andrew Clayton Shook; siblings, Butch Eckert, Kirby Eckert, Kitty Eckert.
