Joyce Sue (Benefield) Jackson Jordan was born August 12, 1935 to Ira and Susie Ann (Rosamond) Benefield at Caney, OK. She was a graduate of Caney High School and attended Beautician School in Ada, OK.
Joyce "Mema" passed away July 22, 2018 in her home at the age of 82 after a battle with Alzheimer's. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Susie Benefield, her siblings, brother Dr. Leroy Benefield and sister Dorothy Jean Benefield, her husband Charles Jackson in 1964, and her husband Jerry Jordan in 2010 after 40 years of marriage. Joyce was a member of Voca Baptist Church in Caney, OK.
She is survived by her 3 beautiful daughters; Connie Adair and husband Dwayne of Caney, OK, Karen Meadows and husband Rickey of Tushka, Ok, and Peggy McBride and friend Cathy Niebruegge of Caney, OK. She is also survived by 4 siblings; a brother, Virgil Benefield of Hugo, OK, a sister, Ethel Price of Madill, OK, and brothers Jack Benefield and wife Wilma of Claremore, OK, and Joe Benefield and wife Retha of Jay, OK. She had 9 grandchildren; Amanda Blue and husband Brandon of Milburn, OK, Traci Alford and husband Greg of Caney, OK, Dustin Meadows and wife Candi of Tushka, OK, Chance Crites and wife Jessica of Caney, OK, Kent McBride and wife Amanda of Caney, OK, Jesse Meadows and wife Cayla of Slaughterville, OK, Ethan McBride and Brianna of Caney, OK, Tyler Adair and wife J'Lyn of Caney, OK, and Skylar Adair of Durant, OK and 20 great-grandchildren who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly.
Mema was renowned for her home cooking and kindness to all. Fried catfish, deer steak or squirrel could be smelled upon entering her home at any given time. Irresistible biscuits and gravy were whipped up at a moment's notice, despite the fact she detested gravy. Mema loved people to drop by so she'd have an excuse to cook. She loved to spoil people, especially her grandkids. There was always a secret stash of fruit roll ups in case a grandkid was over for a visit.
Joyce spent years doing hair, sewing clothes, and buying and selling puppies. She was a people person and had many friends from all walks of life. One of Mema's favorite activities was rocking babies, so having so many grandkids and great-grands kept her busy and happy.
