Joyce Darnell Lewis, age 82, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident. She was born on Saturday, September 13, 1941, to James Andrew and Lillie Lorena (Brewer) Morris, at Atoka County, OK. Joyce passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Durant, OK. She graduated from Tushka High School. Joyce was a loyal employee at Ameristate Bank for 45 years, starting out as a teller and working her way up to loan secretary. She married Cecil Ray Lewis on Saturday, June 8th, 1963 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated nearly 61 years together before her passing. Joyce was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing, writing, playing basketball with her kids, growing flowers, especially pink roses, teaching Sunday School, book keeping and church treasurer for over 45 years and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Cecil Ray Lewis of the home in Atoka, OK; daughter, Brenda Lewis Rackley and husband Robert of Newella, OK; sons, Cecil Lewis Jr. and wife Rita of Claremore, OK, Jim Lewis and wife Amanda of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Cameron Lewis and wife Tiffany of Verdigris, OK, Matthew Rackley and wife Shalane of Oklahoma City, OK, Aaron Lewis and wife Emily of Durant, OK, Ethan Lewis and wife Alexis of Durant, OK, Cathyrn Lewis of Claremore, OK, Zachary Lewis of Atoka, OK; great granddaughters, Kimberlynn Rackley, Hayley who is on the way; brother and sister in law, Jerry and Quina Lewis of Durant, OK; special nieces and nephews, Janie, Maranda, Mark, Mareshah, Marah; along with other nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, James Andrew and Lillie Lorena (Brewer) Morris; brothers and sisters, Lucille Mills, Evelyn Smith, Ray Morris, Geraldine Morris, Mary Henderson; in laws, Neoma and Robert "Bob" Lewis; daughter in law, Lisa Lewis; along with other brother and sister in laws and other relatives
