Joyce Marie (White) Strickland, age 84, a Caddo, OK resident. She was born on Thursday, August 15, 1940, to James "Buck" Hilbert and Velma (White) White, at home in the Folsom area in Johnston County, OK. Joyce passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at her home in Caddo, OK She attended Folsom and Kenefic Schools and completed High School in Texas. Joyce was a housewife and homemaker and worked as a waitress at Walt's Cafe in Ropesville, TX, worked at TMC and at the Sewing Factory in Caddo. She married Edgar Leroy Strickland on Monday, November 3rd, 1960 at Lubbock, TX. They enjoyed 42 years 9 months 12 days of marriage before his passing on August 15, 2003. Joyce was a member of Pleasant View Freewill Baptist Church for over 30 years. She just recently moved to Big Creek Family Worship Church in Bokchito, OK. Being the wife of a minister, she traveled to many churches ministering, she loved to sing in the churches, play piano, loved reading, word search puzzles, cooking, (made the best coconut pies in the county), raising her kids and grandkids, fishing, attending all kids and grandkids school activities and spreading the word of Jesus.
Joyce is survived by her children, Katherine "Kathy" Hurst and husband Junior of Collinsville, OK, James David Strickland of Caddo, OK, Brenda Gabbart and husband Billy of Daisy, OK, Donna Stephens of Caddo, OK, Danny Strickland and wife Brandy of Krugerville, TX, Patricia Smith and husband John of Palestine, TX; 8 granddaughters, Amanda Peterson and husband Nathan, Valencia Strickland, Ashley Strickland, Sarah Smith, Chasity Smith, Chelsea Strickland, Katie Strickland, Leslie Maldonado and husband Jack; 8 grandsons, Matthew Gabbart and wife Brette, Nicholas Strickland and wife Amber, Andrew Strickland, Chance Strickland, Justin Smith and wife Kris, Michael Smith, Tommy Stephens and wife  Dairianna, Shawn Stephens and wife Alex; 29 great grandchildren; brother, Carl White of Arlington, TX; sisters in law, Mary Carol White of Ft. Gibson, OK, Patti White of Shallowater, TX, Mary Dell White of Lone Grove, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, James "Buck" Hilbert and Velma White; husband, Edgar Leroy Strickland; siblings, Delbert White, Henry White, Harvey White, James White, Lily Dove, Gail Shaw; daughter in law, Kathryn DeeAnn Strickland; son in law, Tommy Stephens Sr.; sister in law, Diane White; brother in law, Bill Dove.
