G. June Cates, age 91, a The Colony, TX resident formerly of Atoka County area was born on Tuesday, March 22, 1927, to Hank and Maggie Maye (Collier) Darken, at Tushka, OK.

June passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at The Colony, TX. She was 91 years, 10 months and 8 days.

June graduated from Atoka High School in 1946. She married Mark R. Cates at Atoka, OK and later married Joe Layland.

June was a commercial floral designer and interior designer for J Cates and Associates - Commercial Designs in Dallas over 30 years.  June and husband Mark owned and operated the Medical Center Pharmacy and Flower Shop for many years before moving to Dallas, Texas in 1970.
