Obituary Kathryn Elizabeth "Kay" Heard, age 91, a Stringtown, OK resident, was born on Sunday, October 17, 1920, to Louis Earl "Ted" and Josephine (Rowland) Gabbart, at McGee Valley, OK. Kathryn passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Oklahoma City, OK. She went to school at Pleasant Valley and graduated High School at Stringtown. Kathryn was a homemaker, and in the early years she cooked at Stringtown School, was an aid with the Head-start program, worked at Sharp's Dept. Store in Atoka and Wyrick's Lumber Company. She married Grant L. "Dick" Heard on October 17, 1941 at Midway near Stringtown. Kay was a member of Stringtown Baptist Church since the age of 21 and taught Sunday school. She loved arts & crafts, reading, and working word puzzles. Kay loved taking care of her Grand and Great-Grand Children. Kay is survived by her son, Jimmie and wife Elaine Heard of Fillmore, OK. their children; Rick Heard and wife Robin of Stringtown, OK; their children, Keegan Heard of the U.S Army in Afghanistan and his daughter Xayleigh of Durant, OK. , Cadence Heard of Oklahoma City, OK., Tyson Clinton of Stringtown OK., and Robert Stephens of Caney OK.; Jimmie and Elaine's daughter Cherri Adair and husband Jason of Roff, OK., and their children Cheyenne and Sheriden Adair. Kay is also survived by her other son, Steven Heard and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City, OK. and their children, daughters, Kara Durkee and husband Jeremy of Waynoka, OK.; their children, Hunter and Jorja Durkee; McKayla Fincher and husband Kyle of Stringtown, OK., Larisa Heard of Stringtown, OK., and Andrew, Troy, and Rebecca Schenck of Oklahoma City, OK. Kay's daughter; Patricia Kirk and husband Jim of Oklahoma City, OK and their sons, Dr. Michael Kirk and wife Sandra of Oklahoma City, OK, and their children, Kelsey, Grant, Blaine Kirk, and Timothy Kirk and wife Tonya of Choctaw, OK and their children Brennan, Lauren, Kristen Kirk. Kay is also survived by her brother, Danny Gabbart and wife Pat of Atoka, OK.; sister, Shirley Choules of Nixa, MO.; sisters-in-laws, Joann Gabbart of McGee Valley, OK., Doris Wyrick of Atoka, OK. and Nancy Myers and husband Dr. Lynn of Oklahoma City, OK. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Earl "Ted" and Josephine (Rowland) Gabbart; her husband Grant L. "Dick" Heard; infant son. Teddy Joe Heard; teenage son, Johnny Asa Heard; grandson. Kevin Neal Heard.; sisters, Klella Garside, Virginia Gabbart, Betty Brackett, Ann Brackett, and brother Rowland Gabbart. Services for Kay will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Stringtown Baptist. Church, Stringtown, Oklahoma. With Rev. Lloyd Thompson and Rev. Wayne Edgar officiating. Her interment will be at the Stringtown Cemetery and the pallbearers are Dr. Mike Kirk, Rick Heard, Tim Kirk, Keegan Heard, Jason Adair, Troy Schenck, Kyle Fincher.
