Keith Ray Sanders, age 80, was born on April 4, 1944, to James Lawton and Mabel (Sherrill) Sanders in McAlester, Oklahoma. Keith passed away on January 11, 2025. Keith graduated from McAlester High School in 1962 and got his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University in 1966. Keith proudly served as a Captain in the US Air Force. He married Jerri (Ables) in Atoka on March 28, 1967. Keith was the plant manager of Ethan Allen in Atoka, Oklahoma.  He was recognized for his leadership and success and became an Executive with the company in North Carolina and served on their Board of Directors. Keith then went to work for Bassett Furniture in a leadership position and retired from Bassett. Keith was a devoted Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission member for 11 years and most recently served as the Chairman. Keith was an avid and proud OSU Cowboys fan. Go Pokes! While attending OSU, Keith was a trainer under the legendary Henry Iba, whom he respected greatly. He loved golf, his grandkids, and his beloved dogs, Lady and Elmo.

Keith is survived by his wife, Jerri, of 57 years; his daughter Jami Sanders Peebles and husband Tom and their children, Ashley and Jordan, Andy and Courtney, Alex and Natasha; his daughter Brandi Keith Birchfield and husband Shawn and grandchildren Brynn and Shay, his Sister-in-law Vickie Carpenter and husband Greg, his Niece Amber Arrington and husband Justin and their children Kynlee and AJ, his Nephew Justin Carpenter and wife Kaci and their children Paxton and Kyndal, and many other family members and friends that he loved.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel, and his two brothers, Jerry and Bo, and sister Barbara.
