Brummett
April 18, 1947 – March 22, 2024
Keiv Pierre Brummett, age 76, left this life on Friday, March 22 in his home. He was the dear husband of Rita Gaylan (Smith) Brummett. They were married August 25, 1979 in Arlington,Texas and shared an admirable marriage of 44 wonderful years.
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Keiv was the son of Jack Gene and Jessie (Hollis) Brummett. He attended many different schools before graduating from Sam Houston High School in Arlington, TX. He continued his education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in both Psychology and Physics with a minor in Math from the University of Texas at Arlington. Later, he also earned an Associates degree in Commercial and Residential Air Conditioning from Tarrant County Community College.
Keiv began his automotive air conditioning and engineering career as a Test Engineer for Volkswagen of America and later worked as an OEM Engineering Manager for ARA Manufacturing both located in Ft. Worth, TX. After moving to Centerpoint, OK with his family in 1993, he operated his own business working on residential and commercial air conditioning units. He then worked for five years at Mack Alford Correctional Center. He was a Correctional Industries Manager III. He was then offered a job as Project Engineer for Specific Climate Systems in Ft. Worth and retired from there in 2008.
A Christian, he was a longtime active member at Farris Baptist Church and served on the Board of Education at Farris Elementary School for several years. He was also active in a mentoring program in the town of Antlers. Keiv enjoyed fishing, kayaking, hunting, gardening, reading scientific magazines, tinkering in his garage and visiting with friends at the Farris Community Center lunches. He also enjoyed spending time with his amazing children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Rita, his children, Troy and wife Julie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lee Ann and husband Brian Tolle of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Ryan and wife Amanda of Moore, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Riley, James, Joshua, Chase, Thea, Declan and Clara; his brother Juan Brummett; brothers-in-law, Graylan Smith and wife Carolyn, Aaron Smith and wife Jamie, mother-in-law Maricie Smith and several nieces and nephews.
Keiv was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Jessie Brummett; father in law, Troy Smith.
