Lee Ann (Lowe) Fugate, age 64, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident, was born on Saturday, January 18, 1958, to George Newton and Edna Lee (Taylor) Lowe, at Tulsa, OK. Lee Ann passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Atoka, OK. She graduated from Atoka High School in 1976. Lee Ann went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Lee Ann graduated Summa Cume Laude from Southeastern Oklahoma in only 3 years. Lee Ann was also certified in Behavioral Case Management. Lee Ann taught school from 1990 to 2014 at Atoka and Tushka Public Schools. After retiring she returned part time to Atoka Schools until 2022. She married John R. Fugate on Tuesday, January 20th, 1976 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated almost 47 years of marriage before her passing. Lee Ann was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was a longtime member of Penn & A and later South Atoka Church of Christ, a member of Atoka Chamber of Commerce, Pioneer Club, and Atoka Pink Iris Garden Club. Lee Ann loved gardening, yard work, taking care of her flowers and shrubs, loved shopping, traveling, went on some cruises with her family, church and friends, every Friday she would do a friends trip.
Lee Ann is survived by her husband, John R. Fugate of the home in Atoka, OK; children, Misty Runkles and husband Jason of Justin, TX, John Brian Fugate and wife Sarah of Tushka, OK, Melissa Burrage and husband Mark of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Trenton Fugate, Rebecca Runkles, Natalee Fugate, Victoria Runkles, Chachi Runkles, Parker Burrage, Emma Burrage, Shawn Runkles; siblings, Gary Lowe and wife Diane, Don Williams, Douglas Edgar and wife Cecilia, Gail Bennett, Judy Hensley, Joseph Faine; sisters in law, Connie Buchanan and husband Frank, Anna Fisher; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Lee Ann was preceded in death by her parents, George Newton and Edna Lee (Taylor) Lowe; in laws, Don and Alma Fugate; brothers in law, Joe Dee Fugate, Bob Allen Fugate ; grandparents. ******************************************************************************
