Leonard Ray Walden of Odessa, TX, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021. He was born on September 1, 1936 to Cecil and Susie Walden in Caney, Oklahoma. He graduated from Caney High School in 1955 and maintained lifelong friendships with people in Caney, It was his "home" always. During his life, Ray owned a beauty supply business, worked in the oil fields, and in later life went to college and earned a nursing degree. He worked as a nurse in a hospital into his 70's. He was a Christian, having been baptized as a young boy. He was of the Southern Baptist faith. Ray had a great love for family, coming from a large one.
Ray is survived by his children, Adrianne Mercer and husband Terry, Jeffrey Walden, Daniel Walden; beloved grandchildren; brother, J.B. Walden; sister, Mary Alice Hewitt; along with many loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Susie Walden; siblings, Willie, Helen, Richard, Junior, Jack, Christene, Frank and Wanda.
Ray was buried in Perkins Cemetery in the Voca Community where he grew up. He chose to be buried there beside his father and mother and little brother Frank. He is at home in Heaven now with family, many friends and his savior, Jesus Christ.
