Obituary

Lottie Ann Brown, age 97, of Atoka passed away on January 20, 2021 in Durant, OK. She was born in Finley, OK on March 6, 1923 to Lillie Maxey and Robert Bruce Shores. Lottie later moved to Atoka County with her family. She attended school through the tenth grade in Atoka, she quit school at age 15 and worked as a dishwasher and waitress to help support her family. After moving to Dallas, TX with her sister, Etta, Lottie graduated from Beauty College in 1944. There she met Glen Nealeigh and they married January 16, 1946. They moved to Abilene, TX in 1950 and owned and operated two beauty salons and one of the top rated beauty schools in Texas. Lottie was most proud of her work as the Style Director for the Texas Hairdressers and Cosmetologist's Association. Texas teams under her direction were quite accomplished and won many awards. The word "style" might be the best one to describe her personality. She lived a rich and vibrant life full of style in her appearance, her beautiful home and gardens.

Lottie retired with her husband in 1976 and moved to South Fork, CO remaining there after her husband died in 1978. She was a longtime member of the Heavenly Rest Episcopal Church in Abilene and later the Episcopal Church in South Fork, CO where she served in many capacities. Lottie married Bo Bocock in 1985 and lived in Denver, CO for a short time. He preceded her in 1992 and she remarried in 1995 to Robert Earl Brown of South Fork, CO. Mr. Brown was a Shriner and they enjoyed outings and trips with the group and loved to entertain them in their home. She very much loved her family and friends and hosted many gatherings in her home in Colorado where we all loved to visit and be entertained by our lovely Aunt Lottie.

Lottie is survived by her daughter, Vickie Gonzales and husband Auggie; grandchildren, Kelli Garcia, Timothy McGee, Brendan McGee; nephews, Bruce Usher, Craig Shores, Bruce Shores; nieces, Hazel Lane, Wanda Langley, Marjorie Dixon, Loretta Pavell; many great grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews, and her great friend, Ronnie Faulkenberry.
