Obituary Luther Daniel Cooper, age 94, an Atoka, OK resident, was born on Thursday, July 25, 1918, to Dalton and Della (Elliott) Cooper, at Havana, AR. Luther passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Oklahoma City, OK. He graduated from Tushka High School in 1936, and then graduated from SOSU in 1940. Luther received his Master degree from OSU in 1949. He taught at Wardville School from 1940-1942, Bentley School 1946-1956 and Harmony School 1956-1957. Luther served as the superintendent of the Atoka County Schools from 1957-1965. He then worked for the Oklahoma State Department of Education for 16 years. Luther proudly served his country in the Air Corps from 1942-1945. He was stationed overseas in China and India. Luther married Dortha Faye Smith August 9, 1941 in McAlester; she preceded him on December 25, 1996. He married Billie June Fuller on April 2, 1999 in Atoka, OK. Luther was a longtime member of the Tushka Baptist Church. He loved quail hunting, bluegrass festivals, talking, and visiting with people. Luther was a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Education Association and National Education Association. He was a member of the Atoka Masonic Lodge # 4 and Atoka Eastern Star for over 50 years. He served as the worthy Patron of the Atoka Chapter for 8 years. Luther is survived by his wife, Billie June Fuller of the home in Atoka, OK.; son, Gary Dean Cooper and wife Donna of Tushka, OK.; grandchildren, Stephen Cooper of Harmony, OK., Sherri McCoy of Harmony, OK., Collin Cooper and wife Jennifer of Melissa, TX., Chance Cooper of Tushka, OK., Danna Zumbro and husband Cory of Ada, OK., Ricky Bowen and wife Tina of Tushka, OK., Pam Taylor and husband Neil of Oklahoma City, OK., 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Judy Cooper of Tushka, OK.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
