Lydia Ellen (Gibbs) Houser, age 74, a longtime Caney, OK resident, was born on Wednesday, May 9, 1945, to James Ural and Leafy Inez (Carson) Gibbs, at Sweetwater, TX.
Lydia passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 at her residence in Durant, OK. She attended Sweetwater Texas Elementary, graduated from Caney High School as the salutatorian and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree of Elementary Education with honors from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Lydia was a farmer/rancher and an elementary school teacher. She married Donald Carroll Houser on Sunday, February 2nd, 1964 at Durant, OK. They have enjoyed 55 years of marriage together. Lydia was a non denominational Christian. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and music.
Lydia is survived by her husband, Donald Carroll Houser of the home in Caney, OK; sons, Brent Houser and wife Roberta of Duncanville, TX, Andy Houser and wife Martina of Sherman, TX; grandson, Cale Houser of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Hanna Houser of Sherman, TX; sister, Amelia Cannon and husband Herschel of Colorado; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Lydia is preceded in death by her parents, James and Leafy Inez (Carson) Gibbs; brother, Ronald "Tex" Cauthen.
