Mamie Lee Maxey, age 82, a longtime Atoka, OK resident.
She was born on Thursday, May 7, 1942, to Oliver and Maudie (Taylor) Johnson, at Boggy Depot, OK. Mamie passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at her home in Atoka, OK surrounded by her loved ones. She graduated from Wilson Community Schools and went on to attend El Centro College in Dallas where she received an Associate's Degree in Applied Science and was certified as a Respiratory Therapist. Mamie was a Respiratory Therapist for Baylor Medical University in Dallas, TX for over 20 years. She married George Wendell Maxey on Friday, March 9th, 1979 at Sherman, TX. They celebrated 31 years of marriage before his passing on October 21, 2010. Mamie was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed reading, watching western movies, camping, fishing and loved playing with her grandchildren.
Mamie is survived by her children, Judy Johnston, Vickie Richardson, Roger Mincher, Stephen Richardson; grandsons, Richard Johnston, Colby Robertson, Joshua Baxter, Kalem Fuller, Matthew Mincher, Zac Richardson; granddaughters, Maria Gilbert, Sabrina Reasor, Maegan Baxter, Morgan Richardson; great grandchildren, Chancie, Logan, Tanner, Cheyenne, Carlee, Ashley, Brandon, Tommy, Triniti, Jayden, Ca'Leah, Allan, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Tinslee, Schylar, Chaseton, Layten, Brenlee, Brenton; great great grandchildren, Tyus, Roo, Kason, Huxley, Liam, Emmitt, Konoah, Shiloh, Aspen; along with other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Mamie was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Maudie (Taylor) Johnson; husband, George Wendell Maxey; brothers, Luther Johnson, Leonard Johnson; sisters, Cleo Booze, Lena Bilke, Ruth Payne, Loretta Truett, Janie Reed.
