Marion Ray Baxter, age 87, a lifelong resident of Wilson Community in Atoka County, was born on Saturday, February 17, 1934, to Harvey Marion and Eunice (Casey) Baxter, at Wilson Community, OK. Ray passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at his home in Wilson, OK surrounded by his loved ones. He attended Wilson Grade School and graduated from Wapanucka High School. Ray was a carpenter, builder and rancher. He married Don Ella (Harrison) Baxter on Wednesday, June 15th, 1955 at Rockwall, Texas. She preceded him in death. Ray was a member of Wilson Baptist Church. He was a pilot, owned his own airplane and loved flying, running bulldozers, taking care of his cattle, restoring old trucks and tractors, repairing fiddles, doing wood work and his main hobby was drinking coffee at the Truck Stop.
Ray is survived by his children, Sherry Michalk and husband Don of Wilson Community, OK, Jeff Baxter and wife Angela of Wapanucka, OK, Jerry Don Baxter of Wilson Community, OK; grandchildren, Clint Michalk and wife Stacy of Tishomingo, OK, Marc Michalk and wife Janessa of Wilson Community, OK, Jeremy Baxter and wife Kim of Paris, TX, Josh Baxter of Kingston, OK, Derick Baxter and wife Tamara of Tushka, OK, Adam Baxter and wife Kalee of Waurika, OK, Shawna Baxter of Pottsboro, TX, Samantha Baxter of Arlington, TX; 27 great grandchildren, 1 extra extra special great grandchild, Jace Jones; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Marion and Eunice (Casey) Baxter; wife, Don Ella Baxter; sisters, Rita Howell, Bobbie Johnson.
