Melissa Kay Pearce, age 49, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Thursday, June 10, 1971, to Donald and Patricia Ann (Lackey) Pearce, at Kansas City, MO. Melissa passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Tulsa, OK. She graduated from Kansas City Liberty High School. Melissa went on to attend Cosmetology School. Melissa was a housewife and homemaker. She later helped her mom and pop taking care of their kennels and helped take care of them along with her sister. She married David Herrera on Sunday, June 9th, 1991 at Kansas City, MO. They got to celebrate 20 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. Melissa was of the baptist faith. She loved taking care of her grandbabies, enjoyed taking care of the kennels where they raised all breeds of dogs. Melissa attended and supported her kids sports events, enjoyed flowers and gardening and taking care of her mom's fish pond.
Melissa is survived by her daughters, Selena Looper and husband Aaron of Atoka, OK, Miranda Herrera and husband Bryan Cooper ofAtoka, OK, Autumn Herrera of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, David Cooper, Lillie and Emma Cooper, Cheveyo Cooper, Braxton Herrera; sister, Clarice Pearce of Caney, OK; niece and nephews, Courtney Jarvis, Brandon Jarvis, Richie Jarvis; aunts and uncles, Debbie Arnott and husband Benny of Durant, OK, Rick Lackey and wife Gail of Caney, OK, Lisa Dillard and husband Ron of Caney, OK, Ron Pearce of Seattle, WA, Delphine Weaver and husband Larry of Durant, OK; along with great nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Patricia Ann (Lackey) Pearce; husband, David Herrera; brother, Randy Pearce; sister, Donice Stanton.
