Nancy Copeland-Hester, age 71, a longtime Atoka, OK resident. She was born on Sunday, April 19, 1953, to Elmer and Anna Mae (Curry) Tingle, at Greenville, TX. Nancy passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Atoka, OK. She graduated from Atoka High School and then went on to attend beauty school. Nancy was an Executive Director for public housing in Atoka and Seminole Counties, OK and Rockwall, TX. She married Ted Copeland on January 15, 1971 in Atoka, OK. She later married Randy Hester on Monday, January 1st, 2001 at Atoka, OK. They both preceded her in death. Nancy attended First Baptist Church of Atoka for many years where she found her calling to teach Sunday School. The bond she built with the women of the group is so strong that it lasts today and will continue on. They knew of her love for Thomas Kincaid and treated her with his figurines that she displayed every year. Nancy was a current member of Harmony Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, especially bass and crappie, working in her flower garden, playing card games, especially hand and foot, drinking eggnog and loved her children and grandchildren. Her favorite bird was the Cardinal. She really loved to eat crab legs as evidenced in the photo! In the last 10 months of her life, she lived with her sister, Marie, and her brother-in-law Jim, where their bond grew so strong that his sister-in-law became his sister.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Christi Copeland of Atoka, OK, Marinda Copeland of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Kale Eastwood of Atoka, OK, Kobe Copeland of Atoka, OK, Jada Copeland of Atoka, OK, Lyric Copeland of Atoka, OK, Alonna Copeland of Atoka, OK; great-grandchild, Italy Ray Stephens of Atoka, OK; siblings, Marie (Ree) Tingle-Hardman and husband Jim of Atoka, OK, Bettye Bair of Grand Prairie, TX, Gordon Farley of CA, Vina Odom of Bonham, TX, Christine Smith and husband James of Atoka, OK, Coy Tingle and wife Cindi of Carrollton, TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and host of dear friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Anna Mae (Curry) Tingle; husbands, Ted Copeland, Randy Hester; sister, Joyce Ann Murphy and husband JD, Linda Faye
