Odessa Mae Farmer, age 100, a lifelong Stringtown, OK resident, was born on Thursday, July 12, 1923, to James Arlie and Zemma Jewel (Williams) Wilson, at Bruno, OK. Odessa passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Coalgate, OK. She attended Harmony School. Odessa was a housewife and homemaker. She also worked in shipyards in California as a torch hand. She married Lonnie Ray Farmer Sr. on Saturday, October 21st, 1939 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before his passing in 1994. Odessa was a longtime member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. A member of Eastern Star, active member and founder of Stringtown Senior Citizen's Center.
Odessa is survived by her son, Lonnie Ray Farmer Jr. and wife Ida Helen of Stringtown, OK; grandchildren, Karen Angeline White and husband Donald of Venus, TX, Denise Roxann Bell of Keller, TX, Jennifer Lynn Farmer of Coalgate, OK, Lonnie Ray Farmer III and wife Sarah of Coalgate, OK; great grandchildren, Eric, Emily, Kyle, Spanial, Jamie Stepp and husband Josh, AbigailStevenson, Adyson Stevenson, Shakota Ray Farmer, Harlee Farmer, Alex Seth Farmer; great great grandchildren, Jason Reed Stepp, Callie Greenberg, Luke Greenberg; close family friend, Jason McGuire of Stringtown, OK; brother, J.D. Wilson of Atoka, OK; sister, Maxine Thompson and husband Bill of Arlington, TX; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Odessa was preceded in death by her parents, James Arlie and Zemma Jewel (Williams) Wilson; husband, Lonnie Ray Farmer Sr.; brothers, Kenneth Wilson, Enos Wilson; sisters, Loretta Cook, Jenny Lou Lane.
