Odis Elgin Shipman, a Coalgate resident, was born on October 3, 1931, to Carlton Cress and Alice Julian (Gallegly) Shipman, at Kenefic, Oklahoma. He passed away on April 20, 2023 at Atoka, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 17 days. Odis attended the United States Military College. He worked in many positions throughout his life. Odis was a Pawn Broker, Bail Bondsman, Real Estate Broker and a retired Postman. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Odis married Dellie Pearl Jackson in McKinney, Texas. They spent over 50 years together. He was a member of the Episcopal Church. Odis was a 32 nd Degree Mason, Shriner out of the India Temple in Oklahoma City, member of the VFW, DAV and American Legion. He liked shooting guns, gardening, watching Western shows and visiting with people.
