Opal Faye (Phillips) Darling, age 83, a lifelong Tushka, OK resident. She was born on Friday, October 25, 1940, to Orville and Stella (Tomlinson) Phillips, at Atoka, OK. Opal passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at her home in Tushka, OK. She graduated from Tushka High School. Opal played basketball all four years in high school and was a two time State Champion in basketball in 1957 and 1958. Opal was a seamstress at Wranglers making cowboys favorite jeans for over 30 years. She married Odis Nutt on May 3, 1958 and they had four children. Opal later married Ray Dave Darling on Friday, August 12th, 1977 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated 39 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on March 16, 2016. Opal was a lifetime member of Pleasant View Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and loved visiting with her family.
Opal is survived by her children, Karen Cooksey and husband Charles of Atoka, OK, Sandra Trent and husband Mike of Atoka, OK, Teresa Combs and husband Randy of Tushka, OK, Stacy Nutt and wife Ann of Tushka, OK; grandchildren, Waede Ames, Chadd Cooksey, Jordan Cooksey, Cody Trent, Jessi Hopson, Dustin Combs, Erin Langley, Jaeson Nutt, Emily Nutt; brother, Donald Phillips of Tushka, OK; sister, Lou Ella Alford of Valley Center, KS; along  with numerous great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Stella (Tomlinson) Phillips; husband, Ray D. Darling; siblings, Joyce Carey, Harold Phillips, Jimmie Phillips; granddaughters, Christy Ames, Casie Trent.
