Paul Edward Howard, age 88, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident, was born on Saturday, November 11, 1933, to James Melvin and Beatrice (Key) Howard, at Bentley, OK. Paul passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Atoka, OK. He attended Bentley Grade School and went on to attend Atoka High School. Paul was a rancher. He bought and sold cattle not only for himself but also for Holton Brothers of Hugo for several years. Paul proudly served his country in The Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to September 1955. He married Yumona Yvonne (Sherrill) on Saturday, February 11th, 1956 at Durant, OK. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before his passing. Paul was a member and deacon of Harmony Baptist Church. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle, coon hunting, going to the pool hall on Fridays playing dominoes, going to Harry's Barber Shop and loved spending time with his family.
Paul is survived by his wife, Yumona Yvonne Howard of the home in Atoka, OK; daughters, Jan Copeland and husband Keith of Yuma, AZ, Debby Elliott and husband Cliff of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Lucas Copeland and wife Janny of Atoka, OK, Macy Sliger and husband Casey of Atoka, OK, Leah Buchanan and husband Clayton of Yuma, AZ, Brittney Copeland of Atoka, OK; great grandchildren, Joscelin, Summer, Ruby, Ali, Quinlynn, Walter, Brady, Violet, Jovie, Wylie; sister in law, Joyce Sherrill of Atoka, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, James Melvin and Beatrice (Key) Howard; siblings, Charles, Ruby, Betty, Manzie; brother in law, Jody Sherrill; in laws, Ed and Faye Sherrill.
