Perry Oliver Willis, age 81, a longtime Caney, OK resident, was born on Wednesday, August 20, 1941, to Oliver "Dick" Eddington and Pauline Beatrice (Arp) Willis in Caddo, OK. Perry passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Denison, TX. He graduated from Caney High School in the class of 59', then graduated from SOSU with a Bachelor's in Science and Education, later he also received a Master's in Education and Teaching from SOSU. Perry was a Public School Administer, Teacher, and Coach, for Caney Public School and Superintendent for Coleman Public School. He married Shirley Ann Walker on Saturday, February 2nd, 1963 at Caney, OK. They enjoyed 59 wonderful years together until her passing in 2016. Perry was a member of First Baptist of Caney, OK. He was an executive director of Organization of Rural Oklahoma Schools. Perry was an assistant superintendent of The State Department of Education and served with superintendent Sandy Garrett. He was a member of Oklahoma Schools Girl Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame, Oklahoma Educators Hall of Fame, Deacon for Caney First Baptist, and a mason. He enjoyed raising cattle and farming.
Perry is survived by his daughters, Krista and Rob Armstrong of Owasso, OK, Kayla and Jon Adams of Caney, OK; grandchildren, Leslie Van Meter and husband Ethan of Owasso, OK, Logan Armstrong and wife Kylee of Owasso, OK, Tyler Adams of Caney, OK, Abbie Adams of Caney, OK; great grandchildren, Brooks Van Meter, Liam Van Meter, Luka Armstrong; sister, Glenda Vernon of Tishomingo, OK; along with other relatives and many dear friends.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Pauline Beatrice (Arp) Willis; wife, Shirley Ann Willis; daughter, Kim Willis.
