Phyllis Marie (VanConett) Golden, age 86, a longtime Caney, OK resident, born on Thursday, May 21, 1936, to Mancille Lavern and Lucille (Cullen) VanConett, at Page, NE. Phyllis passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at her home in Caney, OK. She attended High School in Sutherlin, OR where she was a cheerleader. Phyllis was a homemaker, housewife, mother and grandmother. She married Donald Reece Golden on Saturday, November 15th, 1952 at Sutherlin, OR. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before his passing on February 1, 2019. Phyllis was a member of Voca Baptist Church. She worked for the County Election Board, loved gardening, flowers, being outdoors, and spending time with her grandchildren. Phyllis had a green thumb and could make anything grow.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Kenneth Roy Golden of Caney, OK, Linda Greer and husband Roger of Sawyer, OK, Michael Golden and wife Beth Ann of Caney, OK, Julie Whitt of Caney, OK; brother, Leroy VanConett and wife Becky of AR; 12 grandchildren and a host of great and great great grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Mancille Lavern and Lucille (Cullen) VanConett; husband, Donald Reece Golden; brother, Virgle VanConett; son in law, Jack Whitt.
