PASSED AWAY: Powell passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Norman, OK. AGE: 82 years and 10 days. EDUCATION: He attended Stringtown Public School and later attended SOSU where he received a teaching degree. OCCUPATION: Powell worked as a police officer in Oklahoma City and retired in 1976. He worked in coal mines in CO; and a prison guard in McAlester, OK before joing the OKCPD. MILITARY: Powell proudly served his country in the Army/45th Infantry during the Korean War. MARRIED: He married Thelma Jearine (Selby) on July 26, 1952 at Arkansas. CHURCH AFFILIATION, HOBBIES AND OTHER AFFILIATIONS: Powell was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed woodworking, especially birdhouses.
