Randal Alan Rowland

OBITUARY

Randal Alan Rowland, of Pittsburg, Oklahoma, passed away in McAlester, Oklahoma.

Randal was born April 16, 1947, in Daisy, Oklahoma, to George Melton Rowland and S.E. (Boyd) Rowland. He graduated from Pittsburg School in 1965, where he was a standout basketball player, and later attended Eastern Oklahoma State College. Randal was a rancher all his life. He also cut wood and hauled rock, often making trips to Fort Worth. On June 19, 2010, he married Kelly Jan Hall at their home in McGee Valley, Oklahoma.

Randal loved coon hunting and especially enjoyed his coon dogs, Spot and Queen. He also loved his lap dogs, Bitty and Linny, who were always close by. He enjoyed working with his cattle, sheep, and all of his livestock, right down to his chickens. Randal was quite the storyteller, and if you spent much time around him, chances are you heard some of his favorite stories more than once — and probably knew how they ended before he got there — but that never stopped him from telling them again. He loved sitting in his gazebo watching the rain and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing old songs. Randal was a very good singer and loved sharing music with those around him. More than anything, he cherished his family.

Randal is survived by his wife, Kelly Rowland of the home; children, Buck Rowland and step kids, Shane Austin and Carly Austin of McGee Valley, Oklahoma, Sarah Williams and Ty of Krebs, Oklahoma, Bradley Rowland and Lacie Watson of McGee Valley, Oklahoma, and Garret Rowland and Winter of McGee Valley, Oklahoma; stepchildren, Kristy Ross of Jackfork, Oklahoma, Olivia Hall of Kiowa, Oklahoma, and Bazon Hall of Kiowa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Rashonda Thompson of Durant, Oklahoma, Tearson Hines of Pittsburg, Oklahoma, Alexis Hines,  Mason Williams of Krebs, Oklahoma, Sunnie Armstrong and Trevor of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Maici Rowland of Kiowa, Oklahoma, Ryder Rowland of McGee Valley, Oklahoma, Trace Wilson of McAlester, Oklahoma, Trynity Wilson of McAlester, Oklahoma, Tristyn Rowland, Jazzlyn Rowland, Tayzly Rowland, and Bryar Rowland, all of McGee Valley, Oklahoma, Guion Honaker of New York, New York, Heaven Reynolds and Jarryd of North Carolina, and Bolan Hall, Copper Hall, Coal Hall, and Matthew Hall, all of Kiowa, Oklahoma; brothers, Charlie Rowland and wife Rozell of Pittsburg, Oklahoma, and Cotton Rowland of Ada, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Ann Rowland of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Mary Helen Rowland of Lubbock, Texas; special friends, Dee Wood Jr. and wife Marna; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other loved ones, and dear friends.
