OBITUARY

NAME: Richard Henry Stevens, age 91, a  Atoka County & Coalgate resident.

BORN: Richard was born on August 9, 1925, to Samuel and Kathryn Mae (Fambrough) Stevens, at Wilson Community, Atoka, Oklahoma, he was the youngest of nine children.  Richard was injured at birth and was afflicted with cerebral palsy.

PASSED AWAY: Richard passed away on June 20, 2017 at Coalgate, OK.

AGE:  91 years, 10 months and 11 days.

EDUCATION: Richard attended Pleasant Hill school

OCCUPATION: Richard was a ranch hand. He worked for ranchers in the area surrounding Wapanucka. Despite his birth handicap he was considered one of the best fence builders in the area.

MARRIED: Richard married Dorothy in 1973, she preceded him in death in 2000

CHURCH AFFILIATION, HOBBIES AND OTHER AFFILIATIONS:  Richard's family moved to the Pleasant Hill area of the Wilson district in 1928 remained there until 1942 before moving back to their previous home. In 1951 Richard and his parents moved to Fort Gibson, Ok. His parents died there and Richard moved to California for two years, returning to Oklahoma in 1962. He first moved in rural Atoka County and later spent many years in his home in Wapanucka, Oklahoma. He bought sick calves at the Atoka sale barn and resold them after nursing them back to health.

Richard is survived by 11 Nieces & Nephews in the states of

California, Washington, North Carolina & Oklahoma
