Roy Dan Burns, a Coalgate resident, was born on November 16, 1931, to William "Bill" and Sarah (Norris) Burns, at Coalgate, OK. He passed away on February 10, 2022 at Atoka, OK at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 25 days. Roy attended Eastside Coalgate School. He was a Street foreman and Public Works Director for the City of Coalgate. He took care of the Coalgate Cemetery upkeep for many years. Roy was a Rancher. He married his sweetheart Anita June Trow on July 16, 1949 at De Queen, AR. They were blessed with 72 wonderful years together. Roy was a First Presbyterian Church Elder. He served on the Olney School Board. Roy was a hard worker. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle, driving his tractors and chewing his five brothers' tobacco while out at the pasture. Roy enjoyed deer hunting and coon hunting. He liked playing softball in his younger years. Roy enjoyed watching football, baseball games and rodeos. His most cherished times were spent at family gatherings visiting with everyone and spoiling all the kids and grandkids. When he was younger, he loved to dance with his sweetheart.
