IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy Dee
Mobbs
October 29, 1942 – June 12, 2024
Roy Dee Mobbs, age 81, a lifelong Bentley/Atoka, Oklahoma resident. He was born on Thursday, October 29, 1942 in Bentley, OK to two farmers, Ralph Fred Mobbs and Evelyn Susie (Childs) Mobbs, being only several minutes younger than his twin brother Ray. Roy passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at his home in Bentley, OK surrounded by his loved ones. He attended one room school houses at East Allison Grade School and then Bentley Grade School, graduating from Atoka High School. Roy spent his life farming peanuts and ranching cattle, worked as a welder at Star Manufacturing in Oklahoma City, owned and operated Highway 69-75 Pilot Car Service with his wife Shirley, among many other side occupations. Roy was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Shirley Ann (Rains) Mobbs for over 60 years. They were married on December 28, 1963 in Bentley, Oklahoma. Roy enjoyed shenanigans and practical jokes, arm wrestling anyone who would accept a match (stranger or friend), playing dominos at Bentley community center, farming, and traveling the country with only a map to go by. He loved his wife, kids, and grandchildren, always putting those he loved above himself.
In his older years while building fence, welding cow lots, or most things in general, his favorite saying to his kids if questioning his engineering ideas: "It'll last as long as I'm alive", when in fact some of this turned out to be false! Until his passing they gave him grief about the things that he outlasted.
Roy believed in the goodness of people, and living life through laughter and a smile.
Roy and Shirley weren't able to have children for a long time, but after 15 years were blessed with a daughter Jenniffer, 3 years afterwards a son Wesley, and 3 years after, their youngest son Chance. Roy is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Mobbs of the home in Atoka, OK; Jenniffer DeeAnn Mobbs and Chris Willever of Bentley, OK, Roy Wesley Mobbs of Denver, CO, Eric Chance Mobbs of Bentley, OK; grandchildren, Felicia Jade Nowlin of Salt Lake City, UT, Lance Kyler Nowlin of Norman, OK, Jaxleigh Jace Willever of Bentley; brothers, Ray Mobbs and wife Melba of Atoka, OK, Randy Mobbs and wife Linda of Atoka, OK; sister, Freda Leuty and husband Hurshel of Blackjack, OK; siblings in law, Jean Mobbs of Bentley, OK, Wilma Sorrells of Bentley, OK, Gary Rains of Bentley, OK, Peggy Rains of Newalla, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
