Royal Dean Self, age 83, a Norman, OK resident, was raised in Stringtown, OK on a farm west of the prison and lived in OKC the rest of his life. He was born on Thursday, May 15, 1941, to James Phillip and Mary (Griggs) Self, at Stringtown, OK.  Royal passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Norman, OK. He attended and graduated from Limestone High School. Royal worked for Robinson Steel Co in OKC, and owned his own restoration business where he was a contractor, restoring damaged houses. Royal was of the Holiness faith. He loved fishing and boating.
Royal is survived by his son, Kenneth Self and wife Gwyn of Oklahoma City, OK; grandson, Bryse Self; brother, Johnny Self and wife Zelma of Stringtown, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Royal was preceded in death by his parents, James Phillip and Mary (Griggs) Self; siblings, J.W. Self, Farris Self, Jackie Self, Bertha Lewis, B.D. Manion, Cora Thelma Powell, Inez Knight; grandson, Christopher Self.
