Rufus Frank Bates, age 87, a Wapanucka, OK resident. He was born on Saturday, March 4, 1933, to Jess and Lillie (Lowrey) Bates, at Wapanucka, OK. Rufus passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Sherman, TX. He attended Wapanucka High School. Rufus worked on his ranch, moving houses, and for Wapanucka schools. Rufus proudly served his country in The U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Deloris Faye (Marks) on Monday, July 9th, 2007 at Ardmore, OK. Rufus was a member of The Atoka Congregation Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed gardening, and helping people. Rufus is survived by his wife: Deloris Faye Bates of the home in Wapanucka, OK; sons: Danny Bates and wife Sharon of Sanger TX, Darryl Bates and wife Kim of Midlothian, TX, David Bates and wife Traci of Fate, TX; sister: Reable Lowe and husband Marvin of Butcher Pen, OK; grandchildren: Jem Black, Danny Lee Bates JR., Christopher Bates, Jason Bates, Katelynn Bates; and great grandchildren: Payton and Jalen Black, Hannah and Hailey Bates, Theodore Bates, and Kaiden Johnson Bates. Rufus is Preceded in death by his parents: Jess and Lillie (Lowrey) Bates; daughters: Karen Bates and baby girl Sharon Bates; sisters: Beatrice Carr, Lois Brooks, Jewel Dean Bates, Betty Jean Doss, Gladis Rymer, and Dora Belle Black.
