Russell Edward Golden, age 67, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Monday, November 30, 1953, to George Robert and Betty Jean (Hunter) Golden Jr., at Oklahoma City, OK. Russell passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Atoka, OK. He graduated from high school in Oklahoma City and then went on to attend the University of Central Oklahoma where he received a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Russell was a case manager for MACC Alford Correctional Center for over 30 years before his retirement on November 1, 2012. He married Marilyn Golden on January 22, 1983 in Oklahoma City. They celebrated 31 years of marriage before her passing on October 31, 2014. Russell was a long time member of Atoka First United Methodist Church. He like to write, collect coins, loved trivia and he was on the I Want To Be A Millionaire TV Show. Russell enjoyed reading westerns, religious magazines, and studying the history of Christ.
Russell is survived by his brother in law, Michael Valentine and wife Elizabeth of Westminster, CO; sister in law, Toni Dickerson of Metairie, LA; special friends, Martha Gockel of Atoka, OK, Sharlee Garside of Stringtown, OK, Jimmy Freeman of Ada, OK, Nick Freeman of Bakersfield, CA, Russell O'Neal of Stringtown, OK; along with his DOC and church families.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Golden; wife, Marilyn Golden.
