Obituary

Ruth Ellen MacAllister, age 93, a Flower Mound, TX resident, formerly a longtime Atoka resident.She was born on Wednesday, October 15, 1930, to Roy Arthur and Mabel Clair (Arnold) Moses, at Rio Hondo, TX. Ruth passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Flower Mound, TX. She graduated from High School in 1948 in Ft. Smith, AR, Edinburg Regional College in 1950 with highest honors, Southwest Texas State University with a BS in Education in 1952 and George Peabody College in Nashville, TN with a MS in Education in 1954.Ruth was an educator and administrator. She taught school, was principal, and was Assistant Superintendent in the Austin Texas School District, she taught at the Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico in 1955, a lab school at Ball State College in Muncie, IN, as well as La Feria, TX in 1964.
She married Donald Bruce MacAllister in 1976 at Austin, TX. They celebrated 34 years of marriage before his passing on July 25, 2010. Ruth was a member of the Atoka Methodist Church of Atoka and was very active in her church activities. She and her girlfriends shared a large home and loved to travel and go on cruises. The Alaskan Cruise, riding mules with her girlfriend to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and traveling to see the pyramids in Mexico were some of her most memorable adventures. New adventures began when she met the love of her life, Donald Bruce MacAllister. While always proud of their Texas heritage, they loved the people and their ranch in Oklahoma where they raised Brangus cattle, attended the Atoka Methodist Church, and made many lifelong friends. Ruth loved being in nature. She liked watching birds, especially hummingbirds. Ruth loved animals of any kind.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Donna Lawyer and husband Ken of Corinth, TX; grandson, Frank Bell of Corinth, TX; sister, Peggy Burdine of Flower Mound, TX; nephews and nieces, David Burdine and wife Cindy of Double Oak, TX, Paul Burdine and wife Lisa of Coppell, TX, Melinda Corbett and husband Brian of Atlanta, GA, Margo Al-Zuaid and husband Khalil of Saudi Arabia; along with many cousins, relatives, dear and loved friends, and her beloved church family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Arthur and Mabel Clair (Arnold) Moses; husband, Donald Bruce MacAllister.
