OBITUARY NAME: Sammie Lee (Curtis) Dement, age 80, a longtime Atoka area resident. BORN: She was born on August 31, 1930 to Orville D. Curtis and Blanche Casey Curtis at Limestone, Ar. PASSED AWAY: Thursday, April 14, 2011 at her residence on Boggy Depot Road. AGE 80 YEARS 7 MONTHS AND 14 DAYS EDUCATION: She attended Ashland Schools. OCCUPATION: Sammie was a homemaker and housewife. MARRIED: She married Leo Dement in Ashland on November 16, 1948. CHURCH AFFILIATION, HOBBIES, AND OTHER AFFILIATIONS: Sammie and Leo joined the New Zion United Methodist Church and were active members in the church and communities of Tushka and Atoka for many years. Sammie and Leo always enjoyed music and singing, bringing joy to many, especially ministering at the local retirement and nursing homes. She was also a fierce competitor at any type of table game. She spent hours with the daughters, sisters, friends and other family members playing games.
