Obituary Sammy Silvers, age 62, a longtime Atoka, OK resident was born on Monday, January 15, 1951, to Charles and Mildred Otheta (LaVarnway) Silvers, in Merced, CA. Sammy passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 in Atoka, OK. He graduated from Atoka High School and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Sammy was a residential carpenter and also an Atoka police officer. Sammy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Sammy loved his dog, "Little Bit." He went everywhere with him and never left his side. Sammy enjoyed antique cars especially roadsters and streetrods. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and took pride in his woodwork and carving. Sammy was an excellent finish carpenter. Sammy is survived by his little buddy, Little Bit; children, Michelle Hall and fiancé Ryan of Tushka, OK., Shawna Silvers of Lane, OK., Myra Harvanek and husband Shawn of Atoka, OK., Brad Hill of Atoka, OK., Jason Rose of Durant, OK., Russell Rose of Durant, OK., Jerad Gearhart and wife Dana of Lehigh, OK.; sisters, Debbie Silvers of Atoka, OK., Theta Briggs of Atoka, OK.; 14 grandchildren; aunt, Geneva LaVarnway of Oklahoma City, OK.; nieces, Jamie Crow and husband Heath of Atoka, OK., Erin Durbin and husband Davey of Atoka, OK.; 2 great nephews, along with other relatives and many friends.
