Obituary

Sherilyn "Sheri" Ruth (Wicks) Baker, age 59, a Fort Gibson, OK resident for the last 30 years, was born on Sunday, November 9, 1958, to Forrest Thrift and Kathryn Lorine (Claye) Wicks, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was the second of five siblings. Sheri passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at her home in Fort Gibson, OK. She moved to many places during her childhood due to her father's calling as a Baptist Minister. She graduated from Talihina High School in 1977 and then attended Southeastern University.

She married Wayne Bradford Baker on Sunday, April 19th, 1981 in Whitesboro, OK. They had 37 wonderful years together before her passing. She devoted her heart and soul to raising their four children. As they grew older, she went back to school and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern State University before securing a job at DHS. Employed by the Department of Human Services for 18 years, her current position was a Social Services Supervisor for Cherokee County in Tahlequah, OK.

Sheri was a woman of many talents and accomplishments, but those pale in comparison to her amazing heart. Sheri had the kindest soul, and was always willing to lend an ear to her family and friends. She loved the summer when she could enjoy the lake, fishing, and the smell of freshly cut grass. She was an avid music lover, a cinnamon roll connoisseur, had a fondness for scented soaps, an amazing sense of humor and could figure out a way to fix almost any problem. However, her greatest life accomplishment was her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren. It is an undisputed fact that Sheri was the greatest mother and nan any child could ask for, and the void she leaves behind in all their hearts can never be filled. Sheri, we'll only miss you when we're breathing.

Sheri is survived by her husband, Wayne Bradford Baker of the home in Fort Gibson, OK; children, Bridgett, Waylon, Whitney, Dakota and his wife, Donna; five beloved grandchildren, Allie, Corbin, Aubrie, Hudson, and Liliana; mother, Kathryn Wicks; siblings, Beth Calvin, David Wicks, Deborah Roberts, and Paul Wicks; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear, beloved friends.

Sheri is preceded in death by her father, Forrest Thrift Wicks Jr.
